Winter vacation in Denmark
This blog post is written in a collaboration with Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark, but it’s 100% my honest opinion.
Located directly on the coastline at the west coast of Denmark, you’ll find a peaceful and calming oasis called Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark.
In my opinion, the west coast of Denmark shall be explored during the autumn and winter months, when the sea is rough, the storms are wild and the occupancy is low.
Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark is a lot of things, such as beach villas, a campsite, fishermen huts, a wellness area, and a playground and waterpark for kids and families. Besides that, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the incredible Høfde 4 or do your grocery shopping at the supermarket located at the resort.
So basically you’re able to enjoy a stay at Hvidbjerg Ferie Park no matter who you are, which kind of preferences you have for accommodation, and how you like to spend the days at Blåvand and the west coast of Denmark.
Beach Villa
I was accommodated in one of the spacious beach villas. They are located first row of the ocean, but some of them are located in 2nd and 3rd row of the ocean. So if you want to make sure you have some privacy at your own private jacuzzi on the patio, I suggest you send this request to Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark while booking. The Beach Villas can accommodate between 4-6 people. There is a master bedroom downstairs with a double bed, another double room upstairs along with a double bed located at the loft. There are two bathrooms downstairs along with a spacious kitchen-dining area.
You can park the car right outside the villas and there is one charger for electric cars.
Wellness and Spa
During the last couple of years, I’ve spent 7-8 weeks in total at Blåvand, and to be honest, I had no idea this wellness area excited me. This is a shame because I am a huge fan of spas and wellness and for me, it’s the perfect activity during the colder seasons.
I was pretty suspicious and didn’t have high expectations of what I could expect from this wellness and spa area, but I was luckily positively surprised!
The possibilities at this wellness seemed endless with a bunch of different saunas, indoor and outdoor pools, two steam rooms, and a cave room.
The spa manager Pia has 7 years of experience with sauna rituals, and she loves to experiment with different sauna rituals, so make sure to check the schedule for rituals at arrival.
Høfde 4
Høfde 4 is the restaurant located at the resort of Hvidbjerg Ferie Park. It’s the cozy place you enjoy a delightful breakfast next to the fireplace. It’s also the place you enjoy a cup of coffee after a lovely walk by the beach and Høfde 4 is also the place to enjoy a fine dining dinner in casual surroundings.
This restaurant is open not only for guests staying at Hvidberg Ferie Park, but it’s also available for all nature lovers who like to explore this part of Blåvand.
It’s however important to book your seating for breakfast in advance and the same goes for other meals since this is a quite popular place for the people who know about this hidden gem.
Blåvand
Interesting blogpost about this region
The west coast of Denmark is a must-see
This resort is located only a few minutes from the small city of Blåvand on the west coast of Denmark. In our opinion, the west coast of Denmark is a must-see for all nature lovers, as nature here is so different from the rest of the kingdom. Generally, Denmark is an extremely flat country, but on the west coast, you will experience steep sand dunes, huge waves, strong winds, and an abundance of wildlife. Therefore the west coast is a popular destination for outdoorsy, active, and sporty Danes.
It takes around 20 minutes to walk all the way into the town center, and it is such a nice walk up and down the sand dunes, which gives you a view of the beautiful surroundings. The small city of Blåvand has different shopping options and a few restaurants, cafes, and takeaway places, which was more than enough for us. However, if you miss more shopping options or want to go out for a nice lunch and sightseeing a bit, the big city of Esbjerg is 40 minutes away by car. From Esbjerg, you can also take the ferry to Fanø, which is a lovely little island!
Nevertheless, we recommend that you go exploring the surroundings of Blåvand, as it is such a unique and serine piece of Denmark. Specifically, we recommend that you take a walk around Skallingen which is a small peninsula in the wade sea along the west coast, and go on a birdwatching adventure at the nature reserve and lake named Filsø. You can read more about our recommendations along the west coast here.
