Marienlyst Beach Hotel & Spa

This blog post is written in collaboration with Marienlyst Beach Hotel & Spa. Our stay at the hotel was a gift and this blog post contains affiliate links.

Why this place is a little piece of heaven

Honestly, it is our second stay at Marienlyst this year! After our first stay at Marienlyst, we actually contacted them to ask, if it was okay if we came again… soon. Because we really love this spa hotel. It is a rare occasion that we actually relax and truly enjoy our time at hotels since we are always working. But every time we stay at Marienlyst we tell ourselves that we deserve a treat, and then we completely indulge in self-pampering, binge eating and also a tiny little bit of drinking – let’s be real folks. There is something about this place that just makes us want to enjoy the moment and let go of the daily worries.

The Spa Facilities

Let us just say: this hotel has a huge and luxurious spa! The spa is actually 1600 square meters, so it is really really big. However, the spa is parted into many smaller rooms, so the spa is still super cozy and intimate. The interior design of the spa is so bright, classy and beachy! And there are so many fun things to try out: outdoor jacuzzies and heated pools overlooking the sea, saunas, salt therapy, steam rooms, guided dips in the ocean, indoor pool, fitness room, yoga room, etc. And all of which I have mentioned are free! We’ve tried a bunch of spa hotels, but nothing really compares to Marienlyst. And one of the reasons behind this is, that many of the “activities” you can do at this spa are free! Usually, you have to pay for every little extra thing like body scrub, foot scrub, spirulina shots, etc. But at Marienlyst, we definitely didn’t feel like we had to pay for extras to have a good time, because a lot of those little things were without charge. They do have services that cost extra like massages, getting body masks and different other luxuries, which are absolutely amazing! But you can definitely also go to the spa and have a great time, without these special treatments.

The Rooms

Something worth mentioning about Marienlyst is the hotel’s beautiful location right on the beachside overlooking Kronborg Castle(which is btw the castle that Shakespears’ play Hamlet is about). The hotel has really been great at using this unique location to their advantage, and thus many of their rooms, their spa, and their restaurant are all facing the water. That means that you can actually enjoy this spectacular view from your room! Furthermore, all of their rooms are decorated in a very classical Scandinavian beach hotel style. The colors they have used in their interior design are also very calming for the mind. The best part of the room is the bed! It is such a pleasure to sleep at hotels that have invested in great beds, and honestly, it is the best feeling to lay down on an amazing bed after a whole day in the spa. Furthermore, something we really like is the bathroom products. They are so good, smells amazing and are eco-friendly.

The Restaurant

One of our favorite parts of this hotel is their yummy restaurant Brasserie 1861 and also their breakfast buffet. Brasserie 1861 serves modern Scandinavian gourmet food, and both times we have eaten there we have had a great food experience. The restaurant itself is also super cozy and there is a great vibe in the room. The hotel’s breakfast buffet is soo good as well. They have a huge display of healthy foods, as well as comfort foods, so there is something for every taste. It is very obvious that they have focussed on making the breakfast buffest part of the spa experience! There are also glutenfree and vegan alternatives so Karoline was very happy.

Sustainability

Although it is not advertised that much, Marienlyst actually cares greatly about sustainability. If you look carefully in your room at the hotel, you will find small signs everywhere encouraging you to e.g.: not waste water. They try to motivative their guests to think about behaving sustainably while staying with them. Furthermore, all of their spa products and products in their rooms are eco-friendly. They also serve plant-based and vegetarian foods in both Brasserie 1861 and their breakfast buffet. So if you choose to follow their signs and eat green it is definitely possible to stay at Marienlyst with a good conscience.
