This blog post is made in collaboration with Canon Denmark.
I had extremely high expectations for this 28-70mm lens. Not only because of the price but also because I thought it was a strange combination. 28-70mm?
However, I believed that a company with the knowledge as Canon would not create a new type of camera (Canon Eos R) and then make one of the first new RF lenses without a reason.
It took no longer than 30 min before the 28-70mm F2 before I realized how powerful this lens is.
For the last couple month, my Canon RF 35mm has been my main objective while being on the road. As a travel blogger, the 35mm has been everything I needed due to the high aperture, fast focus and image stabilization for video. However, the Canon RF 28-70mm F2 is a different story.
It is extremely fast! Absolutely silent and the focal length of 28-70 is the perfect combination for a run and gun job!

Image Size: Fullframe
Price: 3.350 euro
It´s impossible not to notice the size of this lens. It´s huge and weighs 1430g which makes it tough if you ain’t got a stabilizer, tripod or monopod.
Another disadvantage is for me also that there aren’t any stabilizer in the lens since there also is not a stabilizer at the Canon Eos R.
(See video sample below)
I have been shooting with the Canon RF 28-70mm F2 on a daily basis for 2 weeks now. It was barely left my camera body since I put it on the first time.
It works perfectly for traveling and portraits which is often my settings as a travel blogger.
The disadvantages have not played a huge role and the monopod I am using has been the solution to the weight and stabilization.
Even though the price is high I can recommend buying this lens.
By having this lens in my backpack I can leave several other lenses at home or even sell them because this lens does the job for a lifestyle & travel blogger.
