Danang to Hue by train

This train goes the whole way from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh, but we did not hear too many good things about sleeping in these trains. However, we heard the trip in the Hai Van pass between Danang and Hue should be absolutely stunning!

Train prices and booking

As you might have read in our last blog post from Hoi An we have been rather skeptical about the advice we have gotten about Vietnam so far, so we did not put our hopes up too high.

Another tip we received was to book our tickets through the website/App 12goAsia which is an online platform that does ticket sales in Asia for all kinds of transportation.
However, we discovered that the price for buying tickets online at 12goAsia was way higher than checking the availability online and buying the tickets directly at the train station, so that´s what we did.

The train ride is only 3 hours but since we are traveling with 4-5 bags and would like some privacy we decided to book a 1st class sleeper for 4 persons, but we only paid for 2 persons!

Price differences:
12goAsia: 25 USD
Train station: 6.5 USD

This is so far the best money we have spent in Vietnam!
The scenery as you can see in the video and pictures are incredible and the 3-hour train ride felt like a 2 min fairytale ride.

1st class sleeper train vietnam

The 1st class sleeper has everything you need, Air Condition, power plug, USB charger, light a bed with a sheet an a pillow – it is everything you need and perfect for 6.5 USD.

So best tip, check the departures in the morning before leaving, the train goes several times a day, check there are enough available free 4persons 1st class coaches and buy the ticket at the train station 160.000 VND per person!

Enjoy the ride, my friends! 😉
