When thinking about Barcelona a buzzing, vibrating, and sizzling hot atmosphere comes to our mind. Barcelona is the perfect setting for a fantastic vacation especially in the warmer seasons, and it is actually ideal for every age group. For the younger segments, there is a vivid going-out atmosphere in every corner of the centre, great shopping possibilities, and a chance to make new international friends from all over the world. For the families and more mature segments, there is a lot of daytime activities, historical monuments and beautiful dining experiences just waiting for you to see and taste. We have tried to combinate some of our best recommendations, that we believe you can enjoy regardless of your preferences for vacation.
Barceloneta is Barcelona’s beach;
Only about 20 minutes walk from La Rambla in the centre of Barcelona. It is a beautiful and long beach, which has the best summer atmosphere! Bring water, snacks and a little music – and the mood is set. If you are of a younger segment and would like to make some new international friends, the beach is also a great place to meet new people and get invited to exotic parties. However, always remember to be aware of pickpockets and never leave your stuff unattended
A fantastic marketplace is located just beside La Rambla. This is an inevitable place for food lovers to visit. It is stuffed with fresh fruit, pastries, tapas – and the best part: the butchers and fishermen. If you have rented an apartment in Barcelona, this is also a perfect place to shop for your own tapas, or to shop fresh fruit before your trip to the beach
Santa Maria Del Mar & Tapas at Restaurant Caputxes
Santa Maria Del Mar is a church built in 1329, also known as the cathedral of La Ribera – “Cathedral of the Sea”. There is actually written a great book with the name of the church, which describes a drama taking place in the setting of the church. The book aside, the gothic architecture is a beautiful experience, but the cathedral is also the mekka of a lot of restaurants and bars in the best tapas style.
Be sure to try restaurant Caputxes, which is a restaurant we visit annually to taste the amazing tapas. It can be difficult to get a table outside, but it is worth the wait. The plaza is filled with music, people and lights!
360 SkyBar at Hotel Barceló Raval
Guilty, we love rooftop bars – but this one you have to visit! With a 360’ view of Barcelona city and a delicious drink in your hand, the sunset seems like one of the world wonders. This is one of those experiences you will never get enough of and one we long to experience again.
The prices are fine and the drinks are worth it. Discover it at Barceló Raval’s rooftop at Rambla del Raval, 10 minutes walk from La Rambla.
Park Güell & Bunkers del Carmel
Usually, we are against tourist traps and like to discover the hidden treasures in the major cities. But when you visit Barcelona you have to see the architecture of Gaudi. You can also visit Sagrada Familia or Gaudi’s house – But we recommend you visit Park Güell. The park is big, incredibly beautiful and has a relaxed atmosphere. The view from the park is also insane and is another perfect location for enjoying the sunset.
If you would like to join the locals – then walk a bit further up from Park Güell to Bunker del Carmel. Enjoy the beautiful sunset with a lot of the local youngsters.
